UFC president Dana White has accused country singer Jason Aldean of turning down an invitation to perform at yesterday's UFC 216 event in Las Vegas in front of some of the survivors from last week's mass shooting, in favour of Saturday Night Live.
According to TMZ, Aldean, who was performing at the Route 91 Festival at the time of the shooting, was invited to perform the national anthem at the T-Mobile Arena in Nevada where ten survivors and hundreds of first responders from the shooting were in attendance.
White claims Aldean's camp knocked back the invite as he was still recovering from last week and said he may never perform again, however he eventually appeared live on SNL in New York the same night.
"His image was more important then coming back to Vegas and playing for the people who are his fans and who got shot watching him play," White said.
"Fuck you Jason Aldean. Stay out of Vegas."
White reportedly reached out to a number of country music artists to perform at UFC 216 who all turned down the offer, before US songwriter Everlast accepted.
"Those are people who buy your albums and none of you country music people could sing the anthem in front of survivors and first responders?" White said.
He continued, "This isn't about money. This is about the bad ass people who fought through this shit that this coward did."
Aldean is yet to respond to White's comments.
