ARN has today confirmed some huge changes to the KIIS network, today announcing the axing of two heavyweight duos; national drive hosts, Dave 'Hughesy' Hughes & Kate Langbroek and Melbourne breakfast's Matt Tilley & Meshel Laurie.

Hughesy & Kate will be replaced in 2018 by Will McMahon and Woody Whitelaw (Will & Woody), while New Zealand duo Jason 'Jase' Hawkins and Polly 'PJ' Harding (Jase & PJ) will step in for Matt & Meshel.

update: hughesy & kate to switch to replace hamish & andy in 2018

ARN has confirmed that Hughes and Langbroek, as well as Tilley and Laurie, will not return to the network next year after deciding not to renew their contracts.

Hughes and Langbroek leave KIIS after a three-year run, while Tilley and Laurie leave their post after the show began at the start of 2016.

In the latest radio ratings released just last week, Hughesy & Kate increased their share in three of the five markets, while Matt & Meshel finished sixth in the Melbourne FM breakfast market.

"Today's first phase of announcements is part of a new strategic direction that has been in the planning for 12 months and will see a re-energised and even more competitive ARN in 2018 and beyond," ARN National Content Director, Duncan Campbell, said.

"The signing of Will & Woody and Jase & PJ is an exciting coup for ARN given the talent was also courted by other networks.

"These changes not only enhance our national offering but also reinvents our approach for KIIS 101.1, marking a significant, bold step forward for Melbourne and the network overall."
