The finalists for this year's peer-voted and people's choice South Australian Music Awards have been announced, with heavily decorated hip hop duo A.B. Original leading the pack on six nominations.

Fellow rap luminary and singer-songwriter Tkay Maidza has nabbed four nominations, and emergent musos Naomi Keyte and DyspOra are both up for three categories.

Other acts to pick up nods among the crop of finalists include fan-favourites such as Bad//Dreems, Heaps Good Friends, Lonelyspeck, Timberwolf and Grenadiers.

The 2017 SAM Awards will be held on Thursday 9 November at Thebby Lane (Thebarton Theatre) in Adelaide, with host Henry Wagons steering the evening's proceedings.

There will also be live performances from several nominees, including Glass Skies, Hana & Jessie-Lee, Allume, Timberwolf, Grenadiers, DyspOra and Lonelyspeck, reinterpreting tunes nominated for this year's Best Song prize.

"The 2017 SAM Awards are shaping up to be the biggest to date, with a record-breaking amount of votes cast by the public," Music SA general manager Lisa Bishop said in a statement. "I’m proud to see the diversity and talent represented across the board and I’m looking forward to celebrating at Thebby Lane in six weeks’ time."

Half the available tickets for the evening have already sold out, so if you're keen to be a part of the celebration of the south's best and brightest, or if you're just after more information, head to the SAM Awards website.
