It has been confirmed that hip hop pioneer Big Daddy Kane has cancelled his upcoming Australian headline tour just weeks after the run was announced.

The Grammy Award-winning rapper was scheduled to play shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane next month, however all dates have been axed.

"Due to changes in the artists schedule, the upcoming Big Daddy Kane Australian tour set to hit Australian shores in October has been cancelled," local promoters told The Music in a statement today.

"Due to the tour being cancelled shortly after announcement, all ticket holders were offered refunds, and no public announce was made."

The news follows the cancellation of fellow veteran US hip hop artist Pharoahe Monch's own headline tour which was set to kick off tomorrow night.
