It's not like Tim Rogers has exactly had a quiet year — he's released an album (An Actor Repairs), toured with You Am I and delivered his first book, Detours — but he's looking to make it even bigger with the announcement of an 11-date national solo tour to round out 2017 with a bang.
Running throughout November and December, his Detour-ing run of shows will see him hit stages around the country, starting off at Thornbury Theatre on Friday 10 November and heading on to please adoring audiences in Oakleigh, Byron Bay, Brisbane, Sydney, Newcastle, Hardy's Bay, Port Macquarie, Old Bar, Fremantle and Adelaide.
According to the man himself, he saw his year playing out a little differently than it did — he had it set aside "to do a thesis on Canadian maestros Rush and their divisive 'keyboard' era, and learn how to tie my own shoelaces, but I got waylaid by a love of reading and the ever-shifting notion of 'cocktail hour' and wound up writing a book".
Not that we're remotely complaining; Detours was received with broad critical acclaim on its release, while An Actor Repairs — "an LP made with love and not a lot else, despite a reliance on enthusiasm and the ability to stretch a budget under a charlatan's smoke-cloud of enthusiasm", as Rogers describes it — has been similarly lauded in the months since it landed.
"After taking [first solo album] What Rhymes With Cars & Girls to some regions over the next months, I'm going to go out and play songs about repairing actors and unfixable humans," he said in a statement. "Because that is what we do. Us repairing humans. In human form, Rogers repairs forthwith and foreheaded."
Tickets for all shows will go on sale from this Friday, 8 September.
