Western Australia's answer to BIGSOUND, WAMCon, is set to make its return in 2017, and with the release of early-bird tickets today, organisers have seen fit to whet appetites with the announcement of the first four speakers locked down for the November event.

Leading the charge are venerated industry veteran Keith Harris OBE, who has spent his storied career in high-end positions with the likes of Motown (Marvin Gaye, Giana Ross, Smokey Robinson, Rick James and more), EMI and Transatlantic Records, as well as Burger Records co-founder Sean Bohrman, stalwart local music champion Helen Marcou (SLAM) and newly minted triple j Music Director Nick Findlay.

They're just the tip of the WAMCon iceberg, of course, with the annual event set to line up more than 50 industry heads to man the decks for its broad program of panels and workshops.

WAMCon is just one aspect of the larger WAMFest event, which today has also opened its regular photography competition, Kiss My Camera. Returning last year after a three-year hiatus, Kiss My Camera provides West Australian snappers a prime opportunity to have their work seen by a diverse and dedicated audience.

KMC co-ordinator (and frequent The Music photographer) Linda Dunjey has beefed up the photographic scope for 2017, implementing new developments such as a music-photography workshop, an awards party (which doubles as the official WAMFest opening party) and the all-WA competition.

The 2017 WAMCon event will be held from Friday 3 to Saturday 4 November. Early-bird tickets are available now.

The broader WAMFest program — under the guidance of its new co-ordinators — hits Perth from 2-5 November.
