Sydney singer-songwriter Donny Benét has joined the ranks of Dot Dash Recordings just in time for BIGSOUND, commemorating the occasion by unveiling his newest single, Konichiwa, and a string of tour dates in support of the work.
The synth-and-sax-laden tune is another gloriously retro piece of off-kilter wonderment from the eclectic entertainer, its clip boasting a wonderfully demented mash-up of Japanese decor and, for some reason, Dutch opening subtitles.
(We just want to take another moment to revel in that sax solo, courtesy Donny's brother Dan, because how good are saxophones?)
Anyway, Benét will undoubtedly be touting the track when he rolls into Brisbane for a trio of shows at BIGSOUND, including two on Tuesday 5 September and one on Thursday 7 September.
After wooing the industry, he'll head on to Melbourne for a show at Northcote Social Club with SPOD and Geoffrey O'Connor, then he's off to Wollongong to play the Yours & Owls festival.
He closes out his Konichiwa tour at home in Sydney, with a triumphant closer booked at the Oxford Art Factory on 19 October, with support from Gauci. See theGuide for full details.
