Victorian festival The Hills Are Alive hits its 10th-birthday milestone in 2018, and organisers have started laying the groundwork for next year's event by locking in the dates for the party.
The annual shindig will return to its historic venue of The Farm — 10 minutes out of Loch Village, 20 minutes from Wonthaggi and about an hour-and-a-half out of Melbourne — from Friday 23 to Sunday 25 March, with a stacked deck of Aussie talent to help celebrate the watershed achievement.
The Hills Are Alive has come a long way from its origins in 2009, when it was very much an in-the-know kind of show with a 12-strong line-up playing to a group largely comprised of friends and family; while its horizons have broaded over the ensuing decade, it's retained a reputation for a highly communal vibe, not to mention its stunning location.
Organisers say that the 2018 line-up will be a special one indeed, inviting back several past Hills performers alongside a crop of new faces. All said and done, more than 30 artists, comedians and other entertainers will come aboard for the fest, the spread of which will be revealed in November.
Last year's festival welcomed a typically impressive array of artists to the fold, including Cloud Control, Dope Lemon, REMI, Northeast Party House, The Hard Aches, Bec Sandridge, Fortunes, Flowertruck and many others, in addition to comedians Dave O'Neil, Geraldine Hickey, Karl Chandler and Nick Capper.
With only 2000 tickets up for grabs, it's little surprise that the event has sold out each of its nine previous iterations, so it's safe to expect that 2018's festival will follow suit accordingly.
Hills members will have first shot at tickets by receiving 'The Farmer's Secret Password', which gives them access ahead of the general public, along with a tidy 10% 'Friends of Friends' discount.
