Brisbane prog-rock heroes Caligula's Horse are only a few weeks out from kicking off their national tour in support of their impending fourth album, In Contact, and to help get you in the mood to party, the band have unveiled the hectic clip for their blistering new tune, Will's Song (Let The Colours Run).
Capturing the band doing what they do best — i.e. putting their all into a sweaty, spasmodic live performance — the clip uses a few eye-catching visual effects but generally rolls with the 'less is more' approach, because sometimes, you just don't need more than some spirited band action to encapsulate a song's energy.
The track itself will likely surprise some of the band's fans with its dexterous complexity, which guitarist Sam Vallen describes as being more "heavy and technical … than anything we've created in the past".
"[Director] Adrian [Goleby] has done an incredible job conveying that frenetic power in the clip," he said in a statement. "It captures the energy we aspire to in concert but, also, through its languid and constantly shifting imagery, reinforces the dark atmosphere hidden below the punctuation of drums and guitars.
"Speaking of which, check out the drums and guitar! It's great to show the new guys off to the world at last."
Caligula's Horse will start their In Contact tour — proudly presented by The Music — over on the west coast, at Perth's Jack Rabbit Slim's, on Thursday 28 September, before tearing it up through Adelaide, Melbourne, Canberra, Newcastle, Sydney and Brisbane.
