The future of yet another live music venue is at serious risk due to proposals for apartment developments.
This time, Sydney's Botany View Hotel is in jeopardy, following claims that apartments could be built directly next door.
Management of the Newtown-based venue have confirmed to The Music that talk of the proposals are correct after a petition was launched yesterday to protest the move.
"The Botany View Hotel has given Sydney live music forever, and Newtown locals an oasis even longer," the petition reads.
"Yet a new DA is proposing four storeys of apartments right next door. Sydney's skycave blow-ins are all too well-known for imposing their misery on all that came before. Our town does not need yet another threat to its entertainment family."
At the time of writing, the petition has garnered over 1500 signatures.
The Botany View Hotel only officially relaunched last month, with huge shows from hometown outfit DMA's and Canadian rockers, Japandroids.
The Music has contacted venue management for comment.
