Organisers of an arts event have been slammed by punters for failing to live up on a promise to take them "through a maze in a secret location in Sydney".

As news.com.au reports, ticketholders, who also received entry to the after party for $45, arrived at The Curious Labyrinth party on Saturday to find that the "secret location" was in fact the same venue where the after party was being held.

Though the event suggested attendees will "get lost to find music, food, drinks and crazy characters amongst the hedges", the actual event, held at Jam Gallery in Bondi Junction, was described as "fake greenery in a bad nightclub".

Some of the people who did go along to the event have reportedly claimed there was no maze and that fake vines were hung along the walls of the Jam Gallery instead.

The Underground Arts Party deleted The Curious Labyrinth event page on Facebook after hundreds of people complained and demanded refunds.

"I seriously doubt so many people would have bought tickets if they knew it would be a themed club night at a bar in Bondi Junction," one punter said.

"At one point I heard one girl say to someone that she had been watching people walk in and out of the dancefloor room saying, 'Is this it?'."

An organiser has since told news.com.au that "some people were disappointed with the maze" and that anybody who had messaged the event page have been refunded.
