Joy Division and New Order bassist Peter Hook and his band The Light will perform both of Joy Division's seminal studio albums at special shows in Sydney and Melbourne as part of their upcoming Australian tour.
Hook and co will precede their primary string of shows with two gigs — one at the Metro Theatre on 2 October, one at the Corner Hotel the following night — at which they will play both Unknown Pleasures (1979) and Closer (1980) in full, along with a support set of New Order material for good measure.
Fans around the country already have the opportunity to hear the band perform hits by both bands when they perform the Substance compilations — released in 1987 (New Order) and 1988 (Joy Division) — in Sydney (sold out), Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne (sold out thrice over) and Perth, but these two shows will be something truly special for the faithful.
A ticket pre-sale will be held from 9am local time this Friday, 21 July, running until tickets go on sale to the general public — 9am local time on Monday, 24 July.
