Border Caravan & Camping Expo welcomes 'Man's Best Friend' to this year's show with a pledge of $5,000 to Albury Wodonga Animal Rescue!
The 2017 Border Caravan & Camping Expo is returning to the Border for its seventh year from Friday 25 – Sunday 27 August at the Wodonga Racecourse. Over the past seven years including today's announcement the Caravan Industry Association of Victoria has contributed $35,000 to local charities and not for profit organisations.
This year due to public demand they are allowing 'man's best friend' – the family dog to attend as part of the overall family experience. Many people prefer to travel with their pampered pooch rather than leaving then at home these days and the shows will now reflect that.
Rob Lucas, Caravan Industry Association of Victoria's Chief Executive Officer, stated 'The Association is very much aware that unfortunately not all pooches are pampered and that is why we are excited to be able to donate $5,000 to the Albury Wodonga Animal Rescue. We thought that it aligned quite nicely with our new direction in supporting travelling with your best friend – the family dog – and would hopefully assist with some local dogs being treated and adopted into loving homes.'
The expo promises to deliver more caravans, pop-tops, tents, camper trailers, motorhomes, campervans and 4x4 off road and touring accessories than ever including those that any pampered pooch would be happy to be seen in.
Ella Bloomfield, President Albury Wodonga Animal Rescue, stated 'We appreciate this generous donation from the Caravan Industry Association of Victoria and the move to encourage responsible pet practices by allowing dogs on leashes at the Expo along with designated water stations for the dogs. This money will save lives of local animals that we would normally not be able to save. We get dogs in that have bad dental health, have hip problems and that have been badly neglected. This money will go to save those that saving is not normally possible'.
Rob Lucas, Caravan Industry Association of Victoria's Chief Executive Officer, said 'The Wodonga Racecourse is the perfect venue to commence our man's best friend welcome policy for our shows and we would encourage those that are experienced caravanners and those who are tinkering with the idea to come along with their best friend and give caravanning or camping a go! This show just keeps getting better, with the Wodonga Race Club improving the facilities, exhibitors enhancing their displays, and more exciting special attractions each year'.
