In the latest episode of Josh Pyke's web documentary, the Aussie songwriter recounts the making of his sophomore LP, Chimney's Afire, and how the famous guitar boat from his Make You Happy music video came to be.
The 2008 album, written entirely on the road, advanced Pyke's career in a big way, thanks to two hit songs off the record, Make You Happy and The Lighthouse Song, which both cracked triple j's Hottest 100 that year.
"I was in a meeting with Ivy League and Andy...who said 'I've got an idea for a film clip'," Pyke recalls in the new episode.
"And he just literally showed me a photo on his laptop of a guy from, maybe, the '60s or something in a guitar boat and he's like 'This is the idea'."
The webseries is being released as a companion effort to Pyke's upcoming compilation release, Best Of, B-Sides & Rarities, which is due out at the end of this month on Ivy League Records.
Pyke will follow the album's release with a national tour throughout July and August; Click on theGuide for more details.
