Melbourne's own Jen Cloher has announced she will head out on a Aussie headline tour this August in support of her new forthcoming self-titled album.

The songwriter's fourth LP will drop Friday 11 August via Milk! Records/Remote Control and to give fans an idea of what the record is all about, Cloher has today also released the first single, Forgot Myself, written about the sacrifices and difficulties of maintaining a long-distance relationship.

"You want to be with your partner celebrating big moments in their life but at the same time you have your own life to live thousands of miles away," Cloher said.

"It's easy to stop taking care of yourself. Easy to forget yourself."

Check out the song and music video below.

Cloher will kick off her national tour just weeks after the album's release, with shows slated in for Brisbane, Sydney, Fremantle, Melbourne and Adelaide.
