Ministry Of Sound Australia will rebrand its recording activities under the banner of TMRW Music in the wake of Sony Music UK's acquisition of Ministry Of Sound Recordings UK last year.
The move won't see the complete erasure of the Ministry Of Sound name on antipodean shores; the company's touring and promotions activities will continue to be branded under the well-established moniker, and there will be no changes to any of the branches' staff or artist roster.
Tim McGee, the chief executive of Ministry Of Sound Australia for the past 17 years, will become the CEO of the newly branded recording business, which will maintain control over sub-labels Hussle, Downright and Astrx, while maintaining his role heading up both Soapbox Events and Soapbox Agency.
Compilation recordings, however, will be released through Sony Music Australia going forward.
"We have been expanding and evolving the business for some time allowing us to focus our energies on the future," McGee said of the shake-up in a statement. "We have developed into a full-service music group and will continue our focus on recordings as TMRW Music, as well as our etcetc family of artists, 120 Publishing, Crown Rights Management, Soapbox Agency, Soapbox Events and Poster Child.
"We will continue to work with the Ministry Of Sound brand on the newly launched club at ivy, which had a huge opening night with Peking Duk and Sandy Rivera, as well as other events such as the recently announced Ministry Of Sound Orchestrated shows in August."
Ministry Of Sound Group chief executive Jonathan Bevan said the company was "excited about extending our partnership" with McGee and his Australian base.
"Ministry Of Sound Group has had a long-standing relationship with Tim and Ministry of Sound Australia, and have always found them to be exceptional partners," he said in a statement.
