Though pop behemoth Ed Sheeran has held onto his #1 spot on the ARIA chart with his brand new album ÷ (Divide), the good news is that a couple of our Aussies have actually come close to toppling him from his throne.
Tina Arena has come in at #2 with Tina Arena (Greatest Hits & Interpretations) while Melbourne's own rockers The Smith Street Band have closed in on #3 with their brand new record, More Scared Of You Than You Are Of Me.
It's the first time the band have charted on the ARIA Albums chart and it's the highest debut this week from an indie, even debuting higher than The Chainsmokers with Memories… Do Not Open (#4).
Other debuts this week include Pentatonix with PTX, Vol. 4 at #10, Father John Misty with Pure Comedy at #14, Bethel Music with Starlight (Live) at #15, Falling In Reverse with Coming Home at #16, Joey Bada$$ with ALL-AMERIKKKAN BADA$$ at #19, Deep Purple with Infinite at #20, Rachael Leahcar with Shadows at #25, The Ten Tenors with Wish You Were Here at #34, Deez Nuts with Binge & Purgatory at #46, Future Islands with The Far Field at #60 and Paul Costa with Whisper In The Crowd at #75.
Over on the Singles chart, One Direction-frontman-gone-solo Harry Styles has managed to dethrone Sheeran's Shape Of You from #1, killing Sheeran's attempt at an ARIA record for longest time at #1 (14 weeks). Styles' Sign Of The Times has debuted at #1, with the next highest debut Halsey's Now Or Never at #21.
