This is your chance to learn from some of the music industry's most prolific and knowledgeable artists, with Abbey Road Institute announcing that St Paul Peterson and Ricky Peterson, who both worked closely with Prince, will be arriving in Australia for a music masterclass.

St Paul was the longtime lead singer for Prince's group The Family and has penned a slew of massive hits, as well as worked in studio with, the likes of Stevie Wonder, Steve Miller and Sheila E.

Ricky was originally asked to play keys with Prince but turned the opportunity down, eventually becoming a staff producer for Prince's Paisley Park Records in the '90s. He produced the Purple One himself on songs like The Most Beautiful Girl In The World (from 1995's The Gold Experience) and other artists on Paisley Park Records.

The 90-minute masterclass with the two Petersons will include tips about Prince as a producer, the Minneapolis Sound, song deconstruction, songwriting, use of synthesisers, the importance of groove and work ethic.

The masterclass will be held on 21 April, exactly a year since Prince died, at Melbourne's Abbey Road Institute — head here for tickets.
