The Gov is winner of the newly created APRA AMCOS Licensee of the Year Award, designed to reward licensee groups for good music citizenship.

The award recognises The Gov's commitment to advocating for supporting live music, respecting musicians' creative rights and contributing to the industry in positive ways.

"We are so pleased that The Gov, a big supporter of live music, is the first winner of this new award. Licensee of the Year has been awarded to The Gov as they are an advocate for the importance that music brings to business and culture in this country." - Richard Mallett, Head of Revenue, APRA AMCOS.

The Tonkin family has been at the helm of The Gov for over 20 years and in that time their focus has been on creating a place where live music in every form is enjoyed. The Tonkin Family and The Gov thank everyone in the music industry who make it possible for us to achieve this success. We hold ourselves to high standards, but without your support, we wouldn't be able to bring the music to the stage every week of the year.

"We are thrilled to receive this award and have our hotel recognised as a leading supporter of live music in Australia," says Jo Tonkin.

"Live music is the soul of our hotel as it brings diverse audiences through our doors six nights a week, all through the year. Whether it's a local band getting a start, internationally recognised superstars or cult heroes, there's a place for every sound and every audience at The Gov.

"Over the last 23 years we have established many great relationships with musicians, agents, promoters and the media, and we are grateful for their ongoing support.

"And the people who come to The Gov - be it once a year or every week - they are at the heart of what we do. This is award is an acknowledgement not just of our hard work, but also of their commitment to a live music culture here in Adelaide."
