Well, it wasn't Silverchair, but last night was still an amazing surprise.
As we reported last week, Newcastle's The Cambridge Hotel had teased that a secret headliner act would be playing their first live show in Australia in six years and that turned out to be none other than PNAU.
The acclaimed Sydney/LA trio did perform at the same venue over this past new year's, however that show was a DJ set, so this was indeed the group's first live performance.
PNAU played last night to a packed-out crowd and performed hit tracks like Chameleon, Wild Strawberries and Embrace.
"To be perfectly honest, Newcastle has always kind of been our spiritual home so it seems to be the perfect place to re-birth this entity," PNAU's Nick Littlemore said.
"We're also blessed to have such an amazing performer join us (Shakira Marshall)."
