Legendary rockers Midnight Oil have announced their first world tour in 15 years, on board press conference on a boat in the Sydney Harbour this morning.
The rockers will be undertaking over 50 gigs around the world as part of The Great Circle World Tour, heading to South America, North America, Europe and the UK and New Zealand, with the tour settling back in Australia around October/November this year across 18 shows.
The mammoth tour will start and end in Sydney — beginning at a pub gig, and ending at Sydney's The Domain.
In an awesome twist, the band will also have a slew of notable musicians as special guests on the tour, from John Butler Trio, AB Original, Adalita, The Jezabels, Birds Of Tokyo, Irrunytju Band and Urthboy.
The announcement also comes with news that the Oils will be releasing three new box sets as the tour starts, including a vinyl box set.
After the announcement, the band took questions from the media and also confirmed they "have a few songs on the boil", and will release new music soon. The press conference is continuing as we speak so more to come!
