Boy & Bear and The Preatures for a special show at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens.
The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens will play host to Boy & Bear and the Preatures on Sunday March 26th as part of a new event Day on the Lawn. The event will combine the picturesque surrounds of Australia's second oldest botanical gardens, with two of Australia's most popular bands, craft beer, Tasmanian wine and a selection of Hobart's finest food trucks for a licensed all-ages event.
Boy & Bear cemented their position in the music industry in 2011 after their debut album Moonfire reached platinum sales. The Sydney-based, five-time ARIA Award winners have spent the past 6 years touring the globe. They have played on the world's biggest stages including two consecutive sold out shows at the Sydney Opera House. Even though it's only March, Day on the Lawn will be Boy & Bear's final show, anywhere in the world, for 2017.
Joining Boy & Bear is the four-piece rock outfit The Preatures. The Preatures 2013 hit Is This How You Feel? catapulted the band on to the world stage. From Sydney's worst kept secret to Australia's freshest music export, they landed on stages of Glastonbury, Coachella, Bonnaroo and the Jimmy Kimmel Live show. It clocked in at #9 on triple j's Hottest 100 poll, won the coveted Vanda & Young Songwriting Competition, and earned them high praise from fans as diverse as Pink, Harry Styles and the late, great Aussie rock icon Doc Neeson.
As with all outdoor events, Day on the Lawn is at the mercy of the weather. Organisers have ensured the event will be enjoyed, rain, hail or shine, by booking the Odeon Theatre as back up in the case of wet weather. The Odeon's capacity means that punters will need to get in early to make the most of the assurance and preference will be given to those who purchase tickets first.
The Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens has hosted and continues to host everything from children's pantomimes, theatre performances to concerts. Day on the Lawn's gates will open at 3pm - General Admission tickets are $70 + booking fee, Kids under 15 are $55 plus booking fee and Kids under 8 are free. The event is a licensed all-ages event.
