There are less than two weeks to go until Ne Obliviscaris embark on their eagerly anticipated tour with German post-metal heroes The Ocean, and we now know which local acts will be opening up their impending shows.

In Melbourne, the shred-tastic sounds of I Built The Sky will ring out ahead of the headliners, fresh on the heels of their new album The Sky Is Not The Limit, so we guess you could actually call them I Built The Sky, Which Is Not The Limit and just kill two birds with one stone.

Over in Adelaide, Freedom Of Fear step out with their swag of heavy, technically proficient tunes, while Canberra will welcome their local metallers in the vein of Karnivool and Killswitch Engage, Imperilment, and Sydney's prog-medal prodigies Gods Of Eden will be capping off a massive year (which included the release of their recent album From The End Of Heaven) at the Manning Bar.

Newcastle will welcome home-town metal heroes The Seer, who have admittedly had a bit of an understated 2016 — in fact, they've not been on stage since late 2015, so their return will be a welcome event indeed — while Brisbane will see genre-defying outfit The Stranger slaying with their sweet mix of prog-metal, djent, folk, acoustic tunes and funk.

Finally, in Perth, the evergreen eclecticism of Tangled Thoughts Of Leaving provide the warm-up flavours to get you buzzing hard ahead of the main attraction.

It all kicks off from Friday, 25 November, at 170 Russell in Melbourne; see theGuide for a full list of venues, dates and other booking details.
