Bedlam Records, The Music, Sailor Jerry, The Brightside, Black Bear Lodge, The Flying Cock & The Foundry are proud to announce Brisbane's Big Kick On. A multi-venue party across Brisbane's Fortitude Valley - with a lineup featuring Baskervillain, The Jensens & Twin Haus - it's both a celebration & protest of the last night before the first stage of the QLD lockout laws come into effect.
The moment we've all been dreading is almost here: the much-maligned QLD lockout laws start to take effect on July 1, 2016. From that date, statewide 2am lockouts apply (3am in designated 'Safe Night Out' entertainment precincts). In February 2017, the laws will amp up even further to enforce a 1am lockout for all venues. So what do we do in the face of such unfair adversity? We PARTY.
Brisbane's Big Kick On is the only way to simultaneously get lit while also giving a giant middle finger to the powers that be. You can gain free entry to all four participating venues by simply signing an anti-lockout law petition at the door. Brisbane's local music scene's survival depends on the late-night trading of punters, and the lockout laws could prove to be a death sentence. Join the fight to keep the party going, while being treated to a massive night out at the same time.
Local favourites Baskervillain, The Jensens and Twin Haus lead the charge, backed up by a veritable smorgasbord of the best Brisbane has to offer. From the lush, layered electronica of Lastlings to the garage-pop stylings of Shag Rock, it doesn't matter what your flavour is - there's something for every auditory palate.
Brisbane, do NOT take this lying down. Make like The Beastie Boys and fight for your right to party!
