Since Soundwave's cancellation, promoter AJ Maddah has been fairly quiet on the festival chatter. Yesterday, however, Maddah took to Twitter to express his excitement about a trifecta of rock festivals possibly arriving on Australian shores very soon.
He wrote, "We may have 3 new rock festivals next year! Download, Sonisphere + Legion!"
Things are heating up. We may have 3 new rock festivals next year! Download, Sonisphere + Legion! #Excitement #Adventure

Sonisphere is a European touring rock festival running since 2009, having hosted numerous ex-Soundwave bands such as Iron Maiden, Slayer and Metallica and making the rounds in Spain, Germany, France and more.
Talks of the UK's Download Festival, on the other hand, arise from a tweet from Download promoter Andy Copping, who told fans complaining about the lack of rock festivals in Australia to "watch this space".
@Markoz27 @DarrenWatkins @prime666 Don't give up hope, Marky - watch this space

With crowd-funded Legion Festival scheduled to January 2017, we'll have to wait and see what else next year has in store for us.
