Fourth annual Birdsville Big Red Bash expands to 3 days with iconic headline artists; Jimmy Barnes and Paul Kelly to rock the desert!
We are excited to announce Australian music icons Jimmy Barnes and Paul Kelly will headline the fourth annual Birdsville Big Red Bash.
And we are equally excited to announce that this iconic outback music festival will expand to a three-day event over July 4-6th 2016, showcasing 11 great Aussie artists and bands, up from 7 in 2015.
Staged at the famous Big Red sand dune on the eastern edge of the Simpson Desert 35km outside Birdsville in Queensland, the Bash promises an experience of a lifetime for anyone seeking a unique Australian outback adventure.
Often described as the most spectacular outdoor concert venue in Australia, the breathtaking 40m high Big Red sand dune is the perfect stage backdrop to the Aussie music legends performing on stage.
Kicking off the Bash on the first night, Monday 4th July will be the ever popular duo of Glenn Shorrock and Brian Cadd, who will play all of their classics and more over 2 great sets. This will be a very special performance setting the mood and atmosphere for 2 huge days and nights of music to come.
Paul Kelly, acknowledged as one of Australia's best ever singer-songwriters, is looking forward to venturing to the legendary Big Red dune for the first time, and taking the stage on Tuesday the 5th at such a unique and truly Australian venue.
Paul said "Everyone I know who's been to the Bash says it's a great event. It'll be my first trip to Birdsville and I'm really looking forward to it. I hope the pub doesn't run out of beer."
Back by popular demand, Jimmy Barnes will be returning to Big Red to headline the closing day, after an impressive high-energy performance at this year's event. Jimmy is thrilled to be heading back to Birdsville, so if you didn't catch him out there in 2015, put the Bash in your 2016 travel diary.
Also back for his second Big Red Bash, the likable larrikin Wilbur Wilde will be the MC over the 3 days and nights of entertainment. Wilbur will keep the crowd entertained during the breaks as he did this year, as well as sneaking his saxophone into any of the artist's acts he can.
The addition of an extra day will mean even more classic Aussie music, with an increase also planned to the camping capacity and facilities.
A further 8 fantastic artists and bands will be announced to complete the full 2016 line-up in time for tickets, which go on sale on the 9th of November 2015.
We can't wait to rock the desert again in 2016, so get your family and friends together and get set for a true outback adventure. We hope to see you there.
