Sandstone Point Hotel
is now open!
35 hectares of waterfront land is the setting of the new Sandstone Point Hotel. It's stage one of a $50 million dollar development opening its doors to the public on 3 June 2015.
So far the development has provided more than 100 local jobs and is proving to be a destination which will draw people from all over Queensland and from throughout Australia.
The offerings in the hotel are so diverse it can be different things to all kinds of people. It's a place where you'll be able to go to see big name live acts, have functions, get married, take the family, go on a romantic date, meet friends, have a party or just pop in for a quiet drink.
Located on the mainland side of the bridge to Bribie Island, overlooking the beautiful Pumicestone Passage and Moreton Bay; the hotel and function facility includes: -Indoor and outdoor live entertainment venue for up to 20,000 people

Stages 2 and 3 will see the addition of a 50 room 4.5 star Motel, and a Big4 caravan, cabin and camping site. Development of these stages are planned to commence in 2016.
The family owned Comiskey Group are the developers and operators of Sandstone Point Hotel. The group has a 30 year history and was founded by dad Paul, but now has a 3-way leadership team with sons David (a qualified structural engineer) and Robert (a qualified architect). They're a talented lot those Comiskeys - they also own and operate the very successful Eaton's Hill and Beachmere Hotels and a raft of other businesses including child care and shopping centres.
Like its older sister the Eaton's Hill Hotel, which has seen the likes of Good Charlotte, Jimmy Barnes, INXS, Pete Murray and Hilltop Hoods performing there, big name live acts will be an integral part of Sandstone Point. According to Rob Comiskey 'The backdrop for the big name live acts at Sandstone Point Hotel will be the view of the beautiful Pumicestone Passage. We're in the process of signing contracts right now with some of the biggest names in Australia and in the world'. When asked what entertainment in particular Rob's response was 'If I told you I'd have to kill you, but I can tell you that when I say big, I mean REALLY big with announcements imminent'.
Similar to other multi-purpose venues such as vineyards, guests will have the option to view entertainment either in the open or indoors. The rolling lawns leading from the hotel to the waters edge provide a natural Amphitheatre effect, with stunning water views. While the indoor function spaces overlooking the stage area provide the option of a combination of dining with entertainment.
While bands and big name acts will play a huge part, the plan is for a range of other types to entertainment to also be provided. For instance a two-day rodeo is currently in the organizational stages and food produce festivals are also on the drawing boards. With 35 hectares the world is, well - your oyster.
Speaking of oysters, these delicious mollusks, together with all kinds of seafood, will be featured heavily on the menu. The site was originally the home of a massive oyster lease and chef Chris Houliaras will be sourcing most, if not all the seafood for the restaurant from local producers and fisherman 'The waters of Moreton Bay and Pumicestone Passage are pristine, when I get to work here early in the morning, I love watching the fishing boats chugging by and knowing I will be able to buy some of their catch to put on diners plates that night.
'I'm also pretty excited about my new toy, the outdoor kitchen, on weekends and for functions I'll be cooking on the rotisserie and wood burner oven which both give the food such fabulous flavours' Chris said. The comprehensive menu (attached) features lots of local fresh seafood as well as a wide range of other offerings.
There's a 100 metre jetty which will enable guests to walk out over the water and get up close to the pods of dolphins frequently seen just in front of the hotel.
Nearby residents and boaties will be able to scoot over to Sandstone Point Hotel and tie up their dinghies or tenders or launch them directly on to the beach.
Functions and weddings will play a big part of Sandstone Point Hotel. The main function space is on the upper level of the hotel. It has an expansive water view and opens on to a wide terrace, it has a capacity of up to 220 seated guests, but the space can also be broken into smaller configurations.
The ambience and decor of Sandstone Point Hotel is casual sophistication. Designed by KP Architects, characterful recycled timbers, many from the original jetty and buildings of the site, have been used throughout the hotel along with repurposed bricks. The sand and earthy coloured muted tones allow the building to look like it really belongs on this beautiful location.
It's a place to which you can bring your family, meet friends, have fun and where a quintessentially Queensland atmosphere prevails. A place where you want to sit back, have a drink, listen to some music, eat a great meal, enjoy a stunning water view and relax.
