COMEDY
At just 19, Josh Wade uses a combination of his sharp wit and YouTube to join a new breed of new media performers sending their global audiences 'into a f**king frenzy'. Today he announces his signing to the exclusive New World Artists Agency, and unveils three special shows, taking the laughs offline in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane this December.
First creating viral online content from his Townsville home at just 13, Josh Wade developed a passion for acting, comedy and video production. Josh continued to deliver his own viral videos throughout his teenage years before a growing fan base and early success encouraged him to craft and adapt his online material into a one hour solo stand-up comedy show. In 2014 Josh performed his debut show 'I'm Josh Wade" at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and Sydney Comedy Festival, receiving rave reviews for a string of 33 sold out shows.
'Wade is still in his teens, but he already has his act honed. Rapid-fire, high energy, potty-mouthed, he is also an excellent ad-libber.' - Baz Blakeney, Herald Sun
Josh Wade joins Illy, Allday, Daniel Johns and Dead Letter Circus on the exclusive roster of New World Artists, Wade joins an experienced team which shares his passion for pushing the boundaries in live entertainment.
'We are very excited to represent such a powerful new talent,' said New World Artists' Owen Orford.
Josh is listed in the Top 100 Australian YouTubers and has garnered one of the largest comedy fanbase in Australia with a combined 850,000 subscribers and 20 million hits across all platforms. Josh's online comedy career skyrocketed at the beginning of 2013 with the release of his comedic sketch "Shit Australians Say" and hugely popular 'wacky' street interviews with the general public in his series 'Aussie Opinion'. These and various other 'sketch comedy' and 'public interview' clips thrust Josh out of his hometown of Townsville into the bright lights of Los Angles where he is currently filming 'A Guide to America' - in which he travels the US and explores the good, the bad and the ugly, and gives his comedic outlook on the real America.
In 2014 Josh signed to Collective Digital Studios in LA as his audience continues to grow at a phenomenal rate. Josh has translated his talent to TV and Radio with his video "Racist Bogan Parody" re-enacted on ABC TV's The Gruen Transfer- hosted by Wil Anderson during the Australian Election. Josh's online presence continues to thrive, garnering him thousands of new fans each day. This young comedian has cemented himself as a worldwide prospect for Australian comedy and beyond.
