CHVRCHES, King Krule and Savages Announce Sideshows!
CHVRCHES
Presented by triple j and FasterLouder
"The Scottish trio's debut LP, The Bones of What You Believe, is a seamless fusion of emotive theatrics, hook-loaded songwriting, and some of the more forward-thinking sonics in electronic music right now." - Pitchfork
"Thankfully, the long-awaited The Bones of What You Believe doesn't just check its considerable hype, it transcends it. By corralling everything in vogue with today's soundscape - ethereal atmospherics, pulsing synths, '80s throwbacks - with infectious hooks and the emphatic vocals of Lauren Mayberry, CHVRCHES has created 12 pop songs that are as accessible as they are layered." - CoS
Fans of intelligent, crystalline pop music have fallen hard for CHVRCHES, the Glaswegian trio led by charismatic frontwoman Lauren Mayberry and flanked by Iain Cook and Martin Doherty. Their brilliant debut The Bones of What You Believe dropped a few weeks ago to rave reviews and they're evidently incapable of producing anything other than whip-smart, hook-laden synth pop like within singles 'Recover', 'Gun', 'The Mother We Share'). The reviews have been glowing: a Best New Music Stamp from Pitchfork and 9/10s everywhere. With sell out headline tours in Australia, UK and US, a triumphant, award-winning appearance at SXSW and a string of stadium dates with Depeche Mode, this is CHVRCHES' moment.
CHRVCHES will be supported by rising Sydney producer ELIZABETH ROSE, who is rightly having her moment in the sun. After wowing the masses with her vocal performance on Flight Facilities' 'I Didn't Believe' and releasing a succession of well-received singles, Elizabeth has stepped it up on new track 'The Good Life'

KING KRULE
Presented by FBi, RRR and Pedestrian.TV
"The teenager with a voice so lived-in and wise that he sounds like he's been around the world a hundred times." - Fader
"6 Feet Beneath the Moon ...is filled with brutally honest portraits of a young artist and an almost alien blueprint for a promising career that could go in any direction Marshall chooses." - Consequence Of Sound
"This is a marvellous debut and a perfect fit for those desolate late nights." - FasterLouder
Archy Marshall is KING KRULE, one of the year's most exciting artists in a crowded field. Having variously been compared to Joe Strummer, Edwyn Collins and Morrissey, King Krule actually sounds like nothing but himself. Incorporating elements of jazz, dubstep and hip-hop and delivered in a remarkable voice, 6 Feet Beneath the Moon is the poetic debut of an artist with a lifelong career ahead of him. On stage King Krule is frankly unstoppable: a mesmerising, magnetic tour de force.

SAVAGES
Presented by FBi, RRR and TheVine
"Silence Yourself proves that Savages are more than just talk. It's one of rock's most commanding and ferociously poised debuts in recent years, the work of a band whose outsized confidence and sharp clarity of vision doesn't correlate with the short amount of time it's been together." - Pitchfork
"Savages come to us as a fully-formed wrecking crew, and they've already made a debut album fierce and intense enough to shame bands that have been around for much, much longer." Stereogum
Everyone's hyped on SAVAGES, the London all-girl post-punk four-piece whose awaited long-player Silence Yourself (Matador Records) has lived up to the expectation set by their feverish early shows. It's essential listening: pulsing bass lines, howling vocals and penetrating lyrics, all performed with a frenetic energy and great sense of urgency. Their SXSW appearance made a serious impact, with admiration coming from the likes of NPR, The Atlantic and the L.A Times. Silence Yourself picked up a prestigious Mercury Prize nomination and their headline-creating live show will be a highlight.
Audiences will also be treated to a set from fellow Laneway Festival amigo KIRIN J CALLINAN who is racing through what has been an incredibly full and accomplished year. Set to deliver an unpredictable, enigmatic cut from his acclaimed debut Embracism, you can expect to start the night with an unnerving balance of performance art and rock.
