"The inspiration of Peter Noble and Rhoda Roberts will be a lasting legacy for the Australian Music Scene and in years to come, we will be saying we were at the first Boomerang Festival" - The Hon Tony Burke MP, Minister for Immigration, Multicultural Affairs and Citizenship, Minster for the Arts
Boomerang is the first of its kind, never has an Indigenous festival of this holistic calibre been so accessible, featuring an array of music, dance, theatre, comedy, film and visual arts, along with cultural knowledge exchanges and thought provoking conversation It is an all embracing event - for peoples of every persuasion - come join us.
Boomerang is a fully realised commercial event, not dependent on grants or government handouts because the time has come to present our first culture in a way we have not had the opportunity to before - as headliners in their own land.
Visitors to Boomerang will be treated to 3 full days of performances from music to workshops, fire gatherings, dance participations and conversations with some unexpected surprises. The Boomerang International Indigenous Film Festival (BIIFF) will be launched at the festival; featuring shorts, documentaries and feature films including the award winning Reel Injun featuring Clint Eastwood and Adam Beach.
Boomerang is taking place on Bundjalung land, at the home of the Byron Bay Bluesfest, the magical Tyagarah Tea Tree Farm, just north of beautiful Byron Bay in subtropical Northern NSW. You would need to travel to a remote area of Australia to experience such an amazing event and even then it would not present near as many of the incredible artists that define the Australian Indigenous experience that is Boomerang.
Boomerang Festival is directed by Rhoda Roberts and produced by Peter Noble.
