KIM CHURCHILL
Australian Summer Tour Announced

Kim Churchill will kick his summer tour with special guest Steve Smyth January 5th, 2013 at Thornbury Theatre in Melbourne.

"I'm excited to be in my country for the summer for one. Also very excited to be touring with Steve Smyth. I find him melodically very inspiring and an incredible performer."

Currently Kim is headlining a 26-date national tour of Canada that started less than a week after his Australian tour opening for The Beards and The Snowdroppers. He has penned a number of new songs since the release of Detail of Distance, which he will showcase with his recorded works.

"I'm just writing so much at the moment. It's brilliant. Keeping up with the creative flow is a hectic but enjoyable process. The stage is, and has always been, my canvas for experimenting with new material and this tour will be a great place to start the paintings."

Kim Churchill is acknowledged for his guitar talents with a unique technique and explosive style shaped by intricate fingerpicking, percussive beats on the body of the guitar, and two-handed tapping intertwined with a 24 inch Kick drum, cascading harmonica melodies, and soulful voice.

Kim's musical journey began in 2009 busking and traveling Australia in a campervan to share his music with friends and strangers alike. Since then, he has won the National Youth Folk Artist of the Year award in 2009, been selected from hundreds by the Byron Bay Bluesfest Busker competition in 2010, and has played the main stage each year since then before artists like Bob Dylan, Michael Franti or Ben Harper. 2012 saw Kim touring relentlessly worldwide, and he will have played over 300 shows by the end of this year!

His second album Detail of Distance, the debut release on Indica Australia, was recorded in Vancouver Canada and produced by Todd Simko. The eleven tracks showcase a maturing artist whose traditional folk/blues edge is developing with a rockier edge, an aspect clearly highlighted by the album's first single Season's Grind. Wesley Hetherington (PB Films Productions) has just delivered a new video for Sarah, the second album track, which is presently being serviced to media outlets and online.
