Multi Aria award winning man of the moment Wally de Backer aka GOTYE is pleased to announce a very special show at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens in Hobart on Sunday, 18th December 2011.
It is hard to escape Gotye at the moment, and for good reason. His third album Making Mirrors debuted at #1 on the ARIA Album Chart upon release to wide critical acclaim and has since achieved Double Platinum status. 'Somebody That I Used To Know (feat. Kimbra)', the single that has caught the heart of literally millions of people in Australia and around the world has achieved 5 x Platinum sales and spent a remarkable eight weeks at #1, making it the longest-running Australian #1 in 14 years.
Gotye’s recent string of Making Mirrors album launches around the country featured a 10-piece orchestra and stunning visual animations. The dates – which all sold out in a matter of hours – received rave reviews from all quarters.
Making Mirrors, too, has been met with almost universal praise. Triple J says of their Feature Album, ‘a beautifully off-kilter collection of electronic pop, Making Mirrors sees De Backer push himself creatively and deliver twelve strange and wonderful tunes’, while The Music Network observes that ‘the genius of it is how de Backer manages to make [the album] sound so familiar and yet so new.’
