BREATH OF LIFE FESTIVAL- SETTING A NEW STANDARD FOR FESTIVALS IN TASMANIA- FIRST LINE UP RELEASED WITH MORE TO COME...

This March long weekend, prepare yourself for an event of epic proportions set to make music festival history across Tasmania. Hosted across two days and showcasing a massive medley of the very best Australian and international acts, there is bound to be something for everyone at the BREATH OF LIFE FESTIVAL 2012. All in support of the Australian Lung Foundation.

"The Breath of Life festival will bring together all of the very best of festivals, catering for the young and "young at heart", say festival organisers. "Both days will offer something truly unique and will deliver the creme de la creme of national and international music. There will be a lot of cross over and something for everyone throughout the weekend. This event will satisfy nearly everyone. We expect an attendance of over 18000 people throughout the weekend."

"Breath of Life is going to bring a new era of festivals and events to the Launceston region". Get ready for March long weekend...for those who think they've seen it all...get ready to be impressed...Breath of Life festival was created in 2007 by the Lizotte family to raise funds and awareness for the Australian Lung Foundation, enabling them to continue research of a rare lung condition that took their Mother's life.

Artists such as Beccy Cole, Casey Chambers, Troy Caser-Daly, Jimmy Barnes , Deni Hines, Amber Lawrence, and many more threw their weight behind the Lizotte family to ensure a highly successful outcome for the festival and the extremely important cause. Organisers, Clint Pease and Stacy File continue to work closely with The Australian Lung Foundation, The Lizotte Family and original creators of the festival to ensure the long term success of the Breath of Life Festival and its values and goals for the Lung Foundation and for the Tasmanian community.

Plans for Breath of Life Festival also include the national growth of the Tasmanian home grown festival into other states and even internationally to even further assist the festivals goals.

"We are also 100% committed to The Australian Lung Foundation and their cause as well as Launceston and Tasmania. "Tassie is our home and will always be the home for Breath of Life Festival. The idea of taking this Tasmanian owned event and developing it on a National level is an amazing opportunity that ties in very closely with the vision we've always had to deliver something so important and beneficial nation-wide." Say organisers.

"After meeting with Clint Pease last week I now can truly see that this event has potential to go far beyond the desired outcomes that we initially thought it could." said Mark Lizotte, (aka Diesel). SATURDAY 10 MARCH, MAIN STAGE:

Australia's rekindled love affair with local icons ICEHOUSE just seems to grow and grow. With thirty years, and more than eight million album sales, the bands presence is still being felt by old and new fans as they celebrate the 30th anniversary of their first album. The music of Iva Davies and ICEHOUSE continues to transcend age groups.

WA trio ESKIMO JOE has come a long way since their humble beginnings as the popular indie rock kids from Fremantle. Undoubtedly one of the most proclaimed bands around today, the ARIA winning, Platinum selling trio return to Tassie to give their legion of fans a taste of new music from their latest album, Ghosts of the Past, and deliver a show in true Eskies style that has made them one of Australia’s most loved live bands. After an epic quest across four continents to find rock's Holy Grail, our favourite sons of rock and roll found the answer back home, making what has been hailed the best album of their 14-year career.

Brimming with energy and buoyant enthusiasm, GRINSPOON has truly cemented their position at the helm of the local Aussie rock. It's an exciting new era for a band whose endurance is as much to do with their immense talent as their sheer determination.

Straight from your telly to the Big Top Stage, Australia's premier music trivia show, ROCKWIZ, will air LIVE at Breath of Life 2012. Hosted by Julia Zemiro and Mr Brian Nankervis, ROCKWIZ LIVE will deliver an all-star, mystery guest line up, combined with some brand new theatrical flourishes and of course, the usual selection of brave audience members, sitting behind the buzzers, answering some curly quiz questions and bringing the house down with the legendary 'Contestant Karaoke'. You'd better start cramming, this one's sure to be an all-nighter!

SUNDAY, 11 MARCH, MAINSTAGE:

Leading the charge, in what will undoubtedly be a momentous day in Tasmanian music festival history, will be multi-aria award winning, double platinum selling hip hop leaders, HILLTOP HOODS. With a highly anticipated new single set to be released in November, the Adelaide trio will once again show the world why they've risen to the top of Australian Hip Hop and earned themselves a place at the very forefront of the Australian music industry.

Australian Rock Legends, THE LIVING END, return to Launceston with their only 2012 Tasmanian appearance to deliver the very best of the band's good old fashioned punk inspired rock tunes with a fresh new twist. With the release of their much anticipated latest album, The Ending is Just the Beginning Repeating and a massive tour this year, the five time platinum, ARIA winning trio are armed and ready to storm the stage and exhibit the live show that has them branded one of the greatest live acts in the country. Get ready to raise your fists and rock out, the boys are back with a vengeance and set to impress!

To say the past year has been a whirlwind for BOY AND BEAR would not only be a cliche, but also an understatement. Touring the world with the royalty of folk rock, releasing their new LP, Moonfire, storming the stage at Lollapalooza and selling out venues Australia-wide with a combination of drivey indie folk and choral harmonies to name just a few achievements. And...rumour has it their live show leaves you grinning from ear to ear. We can't wait to find out this March.

Festival favourites and one of Australia's hottest young acts, SHORT STACK return this Summer with a new single from their soon to be released third album and five National sold out tours already under their belt. The boys are looking forward to doing what they do best, putting together a concert experience that will have fans immersed in their pop hooks, rock attitude, and cheeky exuberance. Bring it on!

Tagged as the next leaders of the rock scene, it has been said that Melbourne indie rockers, CHILDREN COLLIDE sound like they're only ever one beat away from skulling a jug and having a panic attack, punching you in the face and/or making crazy love to you. They have the energy of the Pixies and the swagger of Sonic Youth and are a damn exciting band in concert. Expect the unexpected and prepare to be surprised!

With the sound, attitude and ability that took Australia by storm, PARKWAY DRIVE has spent the past few years focusing on forging their reputation on the world stage, while creating an almost cult like fan base back at home. The quiet confidence and lack of arrogance expressed by the band is what lies at the heart of Parkway Drive’s massive appeal. They have the ability to destroy an audience, to decimate a venue with complete and utter malice, yet at the same time show everyone in the place the time of their lives.

Behind the cheeky song names and party atmosphere, THE AMITY AFFLICTION is a band that uses their voice to deliver a message as powerful as their music. This hard working heavy metal band, with its equally hardcore dedicated fan base, are sure to have heads banging when they conquer the main stage in Inveresk Park 2012.

From humble beginnings consisting of rough demos and poems in a book, OWL EYES (Brooke Addamo) has grown into an exquisite collection of soundscapes, all uniquely delineated with her unbridled passion for strong female vocalists. She's played with the big name touring acts and won over countless hearts on her own national tour.

THE MINISTRY OF SOUND DANCE STAGE:

Returning to the Ministry of Sound Clubbers Stage by popular request , with a sharp, streamlined new look, a fresh sense of adventure and, most importantly, a thoroughly reinvigorated sound, SNEAKY SOUND SYSTEM, is without doubt one of the most exciting things to happen to pop music this year. A combination of strobing techno-pop lightning bolts, moody bass and robotic beats, the duo are able to pull off a rare feat of sounding simultaneously vintage and futuristic. It just wouldn't be a party without them.

One of Australia's most loved and recognised bands of today, THE POTBELLEEZ, continue rocking the dance floors with their unique mix of dance, electro and hip-hop beats. The release of their long anticipated album,'Destination Now' in May, hugely impressed fans around the country, dropping three Platinum and Gold hits in its wake. Touring the world alongside the likes of David Guetta and Steve Aoki., VANDALISM are back home on a search 'n' destroy mission to annihilate your senses.

DENZEL PARK have been responsible for producing some of the biggest tracks in dance music across the past few years, with several No.1 spots on the ARIA club chart and Beatport, multiple Platinum Records and an APRA 2011 'Dance Work of the Year' award marking their pedigree. The boys will join the MOS Clubbers Guide Stage this March delivering their trademark concoction of euphoric melodies and down-to-business rhythms to thousands of eagerly pointed ears.
