LEADER CHEETAH On the verge of releasing their highly anticipated sophomore album Lotus Skies, Leader Cheetah are excited to announce their upcoming dates for their Lotus Skies headline tour, joined by Belles Will Ring. Showcasing new music from Lotus Skies for the first time, Leader Cheetah have just emerged from the acclaim following their sold-out national tour supporting The Middle East throughout June. But don't worry too much if you missed the epic sets around the country, as not only will the band be joined by 'Belles, Leader Cheetah will be appearing for the second time at this year's Splendour in the Grass Festival. Also, in a coup for punters all around the country, they will be following their Splendour appearance by supporting jovial lads Gomez on their Australian tour throughout August. Dan Crannitch, singer and guitarist, says the band are keen to get the tour started: "We're thrilled to have the chance to get out there and play the material from Lotus Skies live, it's been a long time coming and we're super excited to have Belles Will Ring come along for the ride!" Lotus Skies was recorded in late 2010 in Sydney with producer Scott Horscroft (The Panics, Little Red, The Sleepy Jackson), whose method was all about capturing the essence of the song without clutter, highlighting Leader Cheetah’s neat balance of clarity and mystery along the way. As with most bands that are built to last, Leader Cheetah don’t sound like anyone else as much as themselves. No one can say for sure what accidents of history, genes and personality creates an original sound in a band, but Leader Cheetah have it. The result is an album like Lotus Skies, music with wide-open spaces and long horizons and with real emotional force. In May this year Belles Will Ring released their second LP, Crystal Theatre. An Australian record like no other before it, "deeply, inescapably cinematic... sweet and terrifying... deleciously unsettling " (Mess and Noise) and "one of the best albums of the year" (Rolling Stone, 4 stars). | |
