THOUSAND IN TWENTY

It’s a double celebration for RAVE MAGAZINE this year, as the Brisbane and South East Queensland street press staple celebrates 20 YEARS since its first appearance in 1991, and the publication of its 1000th ISSUE on July 19, 2011.

To properly celebrate the twin landmarks, Rave is holding a once-in-a-lifetime music event called THOUSAND IN TWENTY at The Zoo on Friday July 15 from 7PM.

Featuring an all-star line-up of some of Rave’s favourite Brisbane musical artists from 1991 until the present day, Thousand In Twenty sees folk-pop lovelies INLAND SEA and garage-surf orchestra VELOCIRAPTOR play alongside Brisbane expat and musical scallywag DAVE MCCORMACK (and his POLAROIDS).

They’ll be joined by an astonishing collection of musicians gathered under the moniker THE BRISBAND EXPERIENCE, featuring members of Hungry Kids Of Hungary, The Bloodpoets, Rhubarb, george, Drawn From Bees and some surprise guests, playing classic Brisbane songs together.

Add to that a SPECIAL MYSTERY HEADLINER that we can’t name, suffice to say they’ve left an indelible stamp on Brisbane from the ‘90s until now, and you’ve got the makings of one memorable night.

To top it off, Triple J’s DJ SARAH HOWELLS will be providing Brisbane tunes between bands all evening.

It’s a celebration for anyone who has ever enjoyed live music in Brisbane and its surrounds, and will be the perfect way to cap Rave’s first 20 years and to ring in the next 20.
