FALLS FESTIVAL ACT ANNOUNCED

CHART-topping UK indie-rockers Arctic Monkeys headline the first batch of acts announced for this summer's Falls Festival at Marion Bay.

The Sheffield four-piece have been in high demand around the world since their 2006 debut album Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not became the fastest-selling debut album in UK history, fuelled by the band's unprecedented popularity online.

The group has gone on to sell out huge venues and headline major international festivals, and received widespread critical acclaim for their latest album Suck It And See.

Arctic Monkeys will be joined in Marion Bay by Seattle nu-folk group Fleet Foxes, who have become an international sensation since playing at Falls back in 2008.

Fleet Foxes have recently been touring the world with the likes of Neil Young as they promote their second album Helplessness Blues. Legendary New Zealand singer-songwriter and Split Enz founder Tim Finn is also headed our way, as is New York reggae collective Easy Star All Stars, who will perform their album Dub Side of the Moon - a dub/ska twist on the classic Pink Floyd concept album - in its entirety.

Much-loved US comedian Arj Barker - a household name in Australia thanks to his role on Flight Of The Conchords and his regular stand-up tours - is back for another year; and Sydney band The Jezabels will return to Falls again this year after being one of the surprise highlights of last year's event.

Dozens more acts will be added to the line-up in the coming months.
