RECONciliation BEATS! celebrates NAIDOC 20th Birthday

RECONciliation BEATS! is a new music festival, live and loud from Musgrave Park Brisbane.

RECONciliation BEATS! is a collaboration between Musgrave Park Cultural Centre and Colman Ridge Presents to bring young people together through affordable access to the music they love.

The emphasis on RECON, borrows from common street slang ( Reckon - yeah!), to emphasize that making friends is only common sense.

In 2011 RECONciliation BEATS! offers a showcase of Australia's best hip hop and emerging folk, funk and rock acts from both indigenous and non-indigenous artists on the one stage. The festival will also offer food from many Brisbane tribes and free show rides all day.

The lineup this year includes Urthboy, Jessica Mauboy, Muph & Plutonic, Busby Marou, Indigenous Hip Hop Showcase, Golden Sound, The Medics and many more great acts.

The event is supported by triple j and was initiated to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of NAIDOC (National Aboriginal Islander Day Observance Committee) but will become a new annual music festival for Brisbane.

Event promoter Colman Ridge says "This is the most exciting new music festival formula in a long time and will go on to become one of Brisbane's great gigs, creating many many important friendships. Get ready for ozoriginal culture, live and loud!"
