Norway’s hottest punk-funk band Datarock are set to release their sophomore album Red through etcetc this June.

Datarock formed in their hometown of Bergen in 2000 and make highly charged funk, disco and electronica music. The band list their major artistic influences as Devo, Talking Heads and Happy Mondays.

After the charm of their tongue-in-cheek slash geek-chic debut album Datarock Datarock, the boys are back with the lead single from their second record Red. Featuring their signature quirk-pop sing-a-long chorus and driving dance drumbeat Give It Up is a hands-down smash.

Above all else, Datarock are a duo who want you to enjoy yourself (their permanent and now iconic stage ensembles of red tracksuits and sunglasses prove that they’ve never been ones to take themselves too seriously).

But while Give It Up still has the liveliness and good humour of their debut album, the single shows Datarock are moving in a more developed, mature direction and after over 500 shows and 11 American tours they have managed to harness some of the frenetic energy they’ve become famous for.

“We have focused on the live energy and tried to make a record where all the songs will work live in just the right way. The record was written mostly last fall, after three years of touring, and the biggest change is simply the massive live experience that we have accumulated”.

Give It Up is released digitally April 28th through etcetc, with remixes currently tearing across dance floors from UK wonderboy Kissy Sell Out, hot as hell chick disco duo Fan Death, and disco duo Chateau Marmount.
