After five years of touring and one year after the release of their breakthrough Album ‘Other Voices, Other Rooms’, Melbourne quartet The Getaway Plan have decided to call it quits.

The announcement comes after a successful 2008 for the band, which concluded with a national spot on the Big Day Out circuit. In addition, 2008 saw the band gain two hit singles (‘Where the City Meets the Sea’ and ‘Shadows’), three nationally sold-out headline tours and a plethora of praise from media and fans alike. As part of the band’s official statement to fans and media, they said,

There comes a point in everyone's lives where they must sit back and assess if everything is working the way it should be. We have come to a decision that The Getaway Plan will no longer continue to make music together. This is in no way the end of our careers as musicians. Music is and always will be the biggest part of our lives.”

The Getaway Plan will play one last run of East Coast dates - playing to limited capacity audiences in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne. Joining them on the road will be close friends, The Amity Affliction and Elora Danan.

Band Members Matthew Wright, Clint Splattering, Dave Anderson and Aaron Barnett have vowed to continue to create music in various forms and each has new projects in the works. Stay tuned for more details on their respective musical ventures.
