Here at OzTix we’re not only interested in offering you tickets to your favourite musical event. We also want to provide you with up to the minute music news that is sure to leave even the most musically minded of your friends wondering how you knew and for some reason they didn’t! THIS WEEK - Scarlett Johansson releases first album
- One of the silver screens leading ladies has just made the almost obligatory transition to off screen diva. Scarlett Johansson has released her first full length album. Titled ‘Anywhere I lay my head’ and comprised almost entirely of Tom Waits covers it is certainly not lacking the intrigue factor. Fingers crossed for her sake this piece of work doesn’t get lost in translation....
- Daniel Johns takes APRA down to party town!
- Silverchair frontman Daniel Johns makes musical history this week after being awarded the prestigious APRA songwriter of the year award. Johns is the only artists in APRA history to have taken down this esteemed title three times. Straight Lines (which was co-written by Julian Hamilton from the Presets) was also voted song of the year. With such a talented teaming of song writing gusto could we really expect any less? Three cheers for Australian Music!
- Great Escape
- The Great Escape festival is yet again going forth, and if the line up is anything to go by, most definitely conquering. Including acts such as BLACK FRANCIS (alternative project for Frank Black famed front man of The Pixies), CONOR OBERST AND THE MYSTIC VALLEY BAND (Conor Oberst a.k.a Bright Eyes), SUPERGRASS, JOHN STEEL SINGERS, THE PANICS, LADYTRON... you get the point yeah? Check out the website for further details.

- Metallica Announce new Album Title.
- Some would sit them right at the top of the metal family tree. Others would argue they ARE the family tree. The good news fans is that after a much anticipated wait Metallica have announced the title of what will be their 9th Studio album - “Death Magnetic”. The Album is set for release in September. I don’t even want to say it out loud in case I jinx anything... but... LET’S HOPE THEY TOUR AGAIN SOON!
