For immediate release: 16 September, 2007 - POWDERFINGER and SILVERCHAIR have been forced to postpone tonight’s show at the Ballarat Showgrounds due to high winds earlier today tearing a massive hole in the tent.

Strong winds earlier today caused a 15 metre tear to the roof of the tent which was being erected to house tonight’s Across the Great Divide show.

The promoters and local authorities have been on site assessing the damage and have agreed that the tent cannot be safely repaired under the current weather conditions, and in light of the Severe Weather Warning which has been posted by the Department of Meteorology.

When making the decision to postpone the show, the promoter’s primary consideration was for the safety of the audience and the performers.

The promoters hope to reschedule the show for tomorrow evening, Monday 17 September, subject to the weather clearing to allow repairs.

All tickets issued will be valid for the rescheduled performance. Ticket holders are urged to go to www.acrossthegreatdivide.com.au for further updates. A further statement will be issued by the promoters by noon tomorrow.
